Description
In a rotary vane vacuum pump, the vanes are the essential parts that do the hard work. They are mounted inside a spinning rotor. As the rotor turns, centrifugal force pushes the vanes outward against the wall of the pump chamber.
This action creates sealed pockets of air. These pockets are compressed and pushed out of the pump, creating a vacuum behind them. The vanes must maintain a consistent, tight seal against the chamber wall for this to work efficiently.
