The shaft seal is your first line of defense. This small part has a very big job.
In your vacuum pump, the main shaft spins very fast. This shaft has to go from the inside of the pump to the outside to connect to the motor. The hole where the shaft comes out needs to be sealed tightly.
This seal is made from a special material called FKM, commonly known as Viton®. This material is chosen because it’s tough. It can handle the heat inside a working pump and resist breakdown from oils and chemical vapors.
Replacing a worn or hard shaft seal is essential maintenance. A new seal protects your pump’s bearings and internal parts. It ensures clean, efficient, and reliable operation.
