Description
vacuum pumps can be noisy when they run. A lot of this noise comes from the air being pushed out, or exhausted, from the pump.
This exhaust silencer membrane is a simple but clever part. It sits inside the exhaust silencer, which is like the muffler for your pump.
Think of it as a small, flexible drum skin. When the air pulses out of the pump, it hits this membrane. The membrane absorbs the energy and smooths out the pulses. This dramatically reduces the noise level.
The membrane also acts as a one-way valve. It lets air out of the pump, but it stops outside air from rushing back in. More importantly, it traps tiny oil droplets inside the pump.
