Your vacuum pump’s cylinder is where the main action happens. It’s the chamber where air is pulled in and pushed out. For this to work, the area where the cylinder meets the pump body must be perfectly sealed.
That is the job of the cylinder gasket.
It is a soft, yet durable, material cut into a specific shape. You place it between the cylinder and the pump body. When you bolt these two parts together, the gasket compresses.
This compression fills any tiny gaps or imperfections in the metal. It creates a solid, airtight barrier.
