Description
When the motor spins, it creates small vibrations and shocks. A rigid connection would transfer these shocks directly into the pump. Over time, this can cause damage to both the motor and the pump bearings. It also creates more noise.
The Spider Element acts as a cushion. It sits between the two metal halves of the coupling. As the motor turns, the Spider flexes. It absorbs these vibrations and compensates for tiny misalignments.
