Description
A gas ballast is a special feature on some vacuum pumps. It lets a tiny, controlled amount of air into the pump while it works. This might sound strange, but it has a very important job.
The main job is to stop water vapor and solvents from turning into liquid inside your pump oil. When these liquids condense, they can mix with the oil. This makes the oil dirty and less effective.
Think of it as a vent that keeps the pump’s oil clean and dry.
This specific gasket seals the area where this air enters the pump. Without a perfect seal here, the gas ballast feature won’t work right. A leak here can also let in too much air and spoil the vacuum.
