This O-ring looks simple, but it does a very important job. It sits between two metal parts inside your vacuum pump. When you tighten those parts, the O-ring gets squeezed. It also keeps dirt and dust from getting into your pump.This O-ring is not made from ordinary rubber. It is made from Viton, a special type of rubber that is also called FKM or fluoroelastomer. Viton is much stronger and more durable than standard rubber.
