This O-ring is a round rubber ring. It looks simple, but it does a very important job. It sits between two metal parts inside your vacuum pump. When you tighten the parts, the O-ring gets squeezed. This squeezing action fills up any tiny gaps. It stops air and oil from leaking out. It also stops dirt from getting in. This O-ring is not made from ordinary rubber. It is made from Viton, a special type of rubber. Viton is also called FKM .
