An O-ring might look like a simple rubber band. But in your vacuum pump, it has a very important job. It sits in a small groove between two parts. When those parts are tightened, the O-ring squashes slightly. This creates a perfect, leak-proof seal.

This seal keeps oil in and air out. Without a good O-ring, your pump can lose pressure and leak oil.
