Inside every vacuum pump there are parts that need to stay locked in position while the machine is running.
This internal retaining ring is the simple steel clip that does the job. It fits into a groove inside the pump and holds bearings or other round parts firmly so they don’t move or come loose.
It’s made from strong steel, measures 2.35 inches across the inside and just 0.078 inches thick. Small and light, but it never lets go once it’s snapped in.
You’ll find it in the popular VC100 and VC150 rotary vane pumps. These are the hard-working oil-lubricated models used in labs, small factories, medical equipment, and workshops.
After a while, rings can bend, rust, or simply wear out from all the heat and vibration. When that happens, you might hear a rattle or feel the pump not running as smooth.
