This is a plain little coil spring.
It fits inside your Leybold Trivac pump – the S4A, S8A, D2A, D4A, D2AC, and D4AC models.
When a moving part inside the pump shifts, this spring stores energy and then pushes or pulls it straight back.
If the spring gets weak or breaks, you can lose performance, get strange noises, or have parts that don’t seat properly.
You only need one per pump. It shows up in every major repair kit (just one piece, listed right alongside the vanes and coupling parts.
It’s the exact replacement, costs almost nothing, and drops in easily when you open the pump for a full service.
