The Spring (Part #00307046) is a direct replacement for Edwards E1M18 and E2M18 vacuum pumps . This small metal spring provides tension for the pump vanes (also called blades) . The vanes are the parts that actually create the vacuum. Without good springs, the vanes cannot work properly. If you are rebuilding your pump, this spring should be replaced as part of a major overhaul or blade kit service .
