This part matches the original Leybold 23973042 exactly. It’s the same gasket you’ll find in almost every major repair kit for these Trivac pumps.
Replacing it is straightforward once the cover is off: clean the surfaces, lay the new beaded gasket in place, and bolt everything back together. It’s a simple job that makes the pump run cleaner, quieter, and more reliably again.
It’s one of the bigger flat seals in the pump, and the little bead around it presses down hard to stop leaks.
When this gasket gets old, cracked, or squashed, you often see oil seeping out, the oil level drops faster than normal, or the vacuum starts to weaken.
