This seal is made from Viton. Viton is a special type of rubber that handles high temperatures very well. It can work in temperatures up to 88°C (190°F) . It also resists damage from chemicals and oils that would quickly ruin other rubbers. The shaft seal creates a barrier between moving parts. Inside your pump, some parts spin while others stay still. The seal sits between them to contain pressure and keep fluids where they belong. It also stops outside dirt from getting into the pump . A good seal helps your pump run smoothly for a long time.
