This Filter Cartridge stops those particles before they enter your pump. It is a Becker part. It is made to fit perfectly and work right.

It wears down the moving parts. It scratches the inside walls. It makes the pump work harder and get hotter. Over time, this leads to poor performance and pump failure.

This filter catches 99% of particles that are 2 microns or larger . That is very small. A human hair is about 70 microns wide. So this filter catches things you cannot even see.
