This small flexible piece sits right in the middle of the coupling.
Your motor and pump are joined by a flexible coupling. Two metal hubs clamp onto this insert. It flexes just enough to handle small misalignments, absorbs shocks, and cuts down on vibration and noise.
The original insert eventually gets hard, cracks, or wears out after years of use.
This is the exact replacement Leybold uses (Part# 20009110, also listed as 20009110). It fits perfectly

This Leybold Exhaust Filter , also known as the FE 4-8, is a replacement filter element for AF 4-8, AR 4-8, and ARS 4-8 exhaust mist filters . It is a direct replacement for the internal coalescing element used in these oil mist exhaust filters. This element should be replaced when the filter is full, to maintain the separation efficiency over 99% .
