This stainless steel spring might be small, but its job is very important. In a rotary vane vacuum pump, flat parts called “vanes” slide in and out to create suction. For this to work, they need to press firmly against the wall of the pump chamber.
This spring provides the push. It supplies constant, steady tension to the vane.
Over thousands of hours of use, springs can lose their strength. When a spring gets weak, the vane can’t seal properly. This leads to a loss of vacuum pressure and poor pump performance.
Replacing old, tired springs with this part can often restore your pump’s power. It’s a key step in routine maintenance or a rebuild.
