Its job is to remove the bad smells from the exhaust air after the oil mist has been trapped . It is designed for use with Edwards Speedivac 2, E2M0.7, E2M1.5, and sometimes E2M2 pumps .

The Edwards EMF3 is a two-stage filter :
The Oil Element (Mist): The exhaust gas enters and hits a glass fiber element. This catches the liquid oil droplets (the visible smoke). The oil drips down into the base of the filter.
The Odour Element (Smell): The “cleaned” air then passes through this Activated Carbon element just before it exits to the atmosphere. This removes the smell.
