The Edwards Vane, 2nd Stage – GX (Part #20402079FR) is a replacement vane for Edwards E1/E2M series vacuum pumps. It fits the E2M2, E2M5, E2M8, and E2M12 models . This vane is made from GX material, a high-strength polymer that is both thermally stable and corrosion resistant .

The rotor spins inside the pump cylinder. The vanes slide in and out of the rotor slots. They press against the cylinder wall. As the rotor turns, the vanes trap gas between themselves and the cylinder wall. Then they push that gas toward the exhaust .
A two-stage pump like the E2M series has two pumping stages :
1st stage – The high vacuum stage. It does the first pull from your vacuum chamber.
2nd stage – The low vacuum stage. The gas from the 1st stage goes into the 2nd stage. Then it is pushed out through the exhaust.
The 2nd stage vanes work in the low vacuum stage. They handle gas at higher pressure than the 1st stage vanes.
