This is a replacement Bearing Retainer for the Edwards EH1200 mechanical booster pump. It holds the bearings in place on the rotor shaft. A small but critical part for pump rebuilds.

Bearing retainers are made of metal. They usually last a long time. But sometimes you need a replacement:
The retainer can crack or break
The hole where the shaft goes through can wear out
The surface that contacts the bearing can get damaged
You lost the old one during disassembly
When the bearing retainer is damaged, the bearing can move. The rotor can shift. The pump can fail. A new retainer fixes these problems.
