This valve fits Edwards multi-stage dry vacuum pumps. It is commonly used on iH Series dry pumping systems . These are large industrial pumps used in semiconductor manufacturing and other demanding applications.
The interstage valve has several important jobs:
It allows gas to move from one stage to the next
It can open to relieve pressure if the difference between stages gets too high
It helps the pump start more easily
It protects the pump from damage during high pressure operation
