      Rubber ages. Heat, oil, and time cause rubber to harden or crack. Here is what happens:

      • Cracks develop: The rubber can no longer support the pump evenly.

      • Hardening sets in: Hard rubber does not absorb vibration. It transmits it.

      • The pump settles unevenly: One mount fails. The pump leans. Misalignment puts stress on couplings and bearings.
