A two-stage pump like the E2M275 has two pumping stages:
1st stage – The high vacuum stage. It does the first pull from your vacuum chamber. This is where this vane works.
2nd stage – The low vacuum stage. The gas from the 1st stage goes into the 2nd stage. Then it is pushed out through the exhaust.
The 1st stage vanes work in the high vacuum stage. They handle gas at very low pressure. This is the most demanding job in the pump.
