Think of it as a two-step cleaning system .
Step 1 – Catching the oil. The exhaust gas enters the filter and passes through a special fiber composite oil mist element . This element acts like a very fine net. It catches tiny oil droplets. The oil then drips down and collects in a reservoir at the base of the filter . You can see how full it is through the semi-transparent white bottom half of the filter body .
Step 2 – Killing the smell. After the air passes through the oil element, it goes through an activated carbon odor element . This absorbs any remaining oil vapor and odors. So the air that finally leaves the filter is clean and smells like nothing.
