The Edwards E1M175, E2M175, E1M275, and E2M275 are large rotary vane pumps. They work hard. Inside these pumps, there is a small internal oil pump. This oil pump sends pressurized oil to cool and seal the moving parts . Clean oil is very important for this internal pump.

Every time you open the pump to change the internal oil filter screen, you must change this gasket. Once you take the cover off, the gasket gets crushed. It will not seal again. If you reuse the old one, here is what happens:

• Dirty oil bypasses the filter screen.

• The internal oil pump gets damaged.

• Your vacuum pressure drops.

• The pump runs hot and fails early.
