The rotor has slots cut into it. These slots hold the pump’s vanes . As the motor turns the rotor, the vanes slide in and out. They press against the cylinder wall. This action traps gas and pushes it out through the exhaust .
The E2M2 is a two-stage pump. It has two pumping chambers working together:
1st Stage (HV) – The High Vacuum stage does the first pull from your vacuum chamber.
2nd Stage (LV) – The Low Vacuum stage takes the gas from the 1st stage and compresses it further to reach a deep vacuum.

The Ballast Filter (Part # 25907200) is a replacement part for Edwards E1/E2M series rotary vane pumps. This small felt filter cleans the air that enters the pump through the gas ballast valve. It stops dust and dirt from getting into your pump oil. If you change your pump oil, you should change this filter at the same time. It fits E2M2, E2M5, E2M8, and E2M12 models .
