This is an OEM Flinger Assembly (also known as an oil slinger) for Edwards HV series large vacuum pumps. This component is mounted on the drive shaft. It flings oil onto the bearings to keep them lubricated. It is a critical part of the pump’s lubrication system.

The HV series are large, powerful vacuum pumps. They are used in heavy-duty industrial applications. These pumps require a robust lubrication system to keep the bearings cool and lubricated.
No Oil Pump: Many large pumps use an oil pump to push oil to the bearings. But some designs use a flinger instead. The flinger is simpler. There are no small oil passages to clog.
Constant Lubrication: As long as the shaft is spinning, the flinger is throwing oil.
Cools Bearings: The oil spray also helps remove heat from the bearings.
