This is the Cylinder/Inlet Flange Gasket (Part #48021700) .

 On your Busch pump, this gasket sits between the cylinder and the inlet flange . Its only job is to create a tight, reliable seal that prevents air from leaking in and vacuum pressure from leaking out.

The inlet flange is where the gas enters your pump. The cylinder is where the gas gets compressed. Where these two parts meet, there needs to a perfect seal. Any gap, no matter how small, will let air in. And air leaking in means your pump has to work harder to reach its target vacuum.

This gasket fills that gap. It is made from a compressible material that conforms to the surfaces on both sides. When you tighten the bolts, the gasket squishes down and creates a perfect seal .
