      A dowel pin is a small, solid metal cylinder. It is headless, meaning it has no screw head or cap. Both ends are usually chamfered (slightly tapered or rounded).

      Think of it like a miniature alignment rod. You drill matching holes in two parts that need to fit together. You insert the dowel pin into one hole. Then you slide the other part onto the pin. The pin forces the two parts into perfect alignment.
