Edwards Piston Ring, PK10, IH Part# 30305753

The piston ring is a small but mighty metal split ring. It fits tightly into a groove on the outer diameter of the piston. It has three critical jobs inside your pump :

1. It seals the chamber: It creates a gas-tight seal between the piston and the cylinder wall. This prevents the compressed gas (or air) from “blowing by” the piston, ensuring the pump achieves full vacuum and power .

2. It controls oil: It scrapes excess oil off the cylinder wall, pushing it back down to the sump. This prevents the pump from burning oil or smoking .

3. It cools the piston: The ring acts as a heat conduit. It transfers heat from the super-hot piston head to the cooler cylinder wall, where it can be dissipated .
