A two-stage pump like the E2M28 or E2M30 has two pumping stages:
1st stage – The high vacuum stage. It does the first pull from your vacuum chamber.
2nd stage – The low vacuum stage. The gas from the 1st stage goes into the 2nd stage. Then it is pushed out through the exhaust. This is where this vane works.
The 2nd stage vanes work in the low vacuum stage. They handle gas at higher pressure than the 1st stage vanes.
