A labyrinth seal is a special type of mechanical seal. It does not touch the rotating shaft. Instead, it has a series of precision-cut grooves and ridges.
This rotating labyrinth seal is designed specifically for two pump models:
Stokes 306 Mechanical Booster Pump
Stokes 310 Mechanical Booster Pump
These are rugged, industrial-grade booster pumps (also called Roots blowers). The 306 model has a displacement of 125 CFM, while the 310 model has a displacement of 400 CFM . They are often used together with other vacuum pumps to increase pumping speed and reduce pump-down times.
