This Vane Spring (Part #490069) is a replacement part made for Pfeiffer DUO 120A and DUO 125 vacuum pumps . Unlike a regular spring, a vane spring has one specific job: it pushes the vane outward against the cylinder wall. This creates the seal needed to generate vacuum pressure. A vane spring is not the same as a regular spring. It is designed specifically to push the vane outward with just the right amount of force . Too little force, and the vane does not seal. Too much force, and the vane wears out too fast. This spring gets it just right.
