Ultragrade 19 is the most popular and trusted oil for Edwards rotary vane pumps . It is not like regular motor oil. This oil is made for the tough conditions inside a vacuum pump.
Most manufacturers make oil using a solvent refining process. But Edwards uses a different method. It is called a hydrotreating process .
This process removes nitrogen, sulphur, and oxygen from the oil. It also takes out the aromatic hydrocarbons. What is left is a clean base stock. It is almost completely free of impurities .
Then Edwards adds special additives. These include anti-oxidants. They also add rust inhibitors. The result is a high-performance oil .
