The Edwards E1M175 and E2M275 series pumps are the giants of the rotary vane family. The E2M275, for example, moves an incredible amount of air and holds around 21 liters of oil. These pumps have a separate internal oil pump (hydraulic pump) that creates pressure to lubricate the bearings and seal the rotors . If debris gets sucked into that small internal pump, it will fail instantly, leading to a very expensive repair.
