This heater fits the Edwards 18B4B vapour booster pump . This pump is also known as a diffusion pump. It is used in high vacuum applications.
There are three heaters in each 18B4B pump . All three heaters have the same power rating . So this is one of the three heaters you need.
The 18B4B pump works by boiling special pump fluid. The heater is inside the boiler section at the bottom of the pump . The heater turns the fluid into vapour. The vapour moves up through the pump and creates a high vacuum .
No heat means no vapour. No vapour means no vacuum. So the heater is the heart of the pump. If one heater fails, the pump will not work properly.
