The EH1200 is a large mechanical booster pump (also called a Roots blower). It is used with a backing pump to create high vacuum in industrial systems.
The seal carrier is a simple but precise part. It has a smooth inner bore. The shaft seal presses into this bore. The carrier has bolt holes on the outer edge. These bolts attach the carrier to the pump body.
When the pump spins, the shaft rotates inside the seal. The carrier holds the seal steady. This lets the seal do its job: keep oil in and dirt out.
