SEAL CARRIER GASKET
A seal carrier is a metal ring that holds the main shaft seal. The seal carrier bolts onto the pump body. Between the carrier and the body, there is a thin gasket.
This gasket does two jobs:
It stops oil from leaking out between the carrier and pump body.
It stops air from leaking into the pump.
Without this gasket, even a brand new shaft seal will not work right. Oil will seep out around the edges of the carrier.
