This is a shaft seal for DVP vacuum pumps. It measures 40mm inside, 52mm outside, and is 7mm thick. It carries part number 901021PP. This seal stops oil from leaking out where the drive shaft enters the pump body. If you see oil dripping from the front of your pump near the shaft, a worn seal is likely the problem. This is a standard lip seal. It has a metal outer case and a rubber inner . The metal case presses into the pump housing. The rubber touches the spinning shaft.
When you install it, make sure the lip faces the oil side. The lip should point toward the inside of the pump where the oil is. This lets the seal hold the oil in.
Use a clean, smooth tool to press it in. Do not hit it directly with a hammer. That can bend the metal case.
Shaft seals with these dimensions are common on medium-sized industrial vacuum pumps. Based on the size, this seal is likely for pumps similar to the DVP LB series or LC series in the 40 m³/h range.If oil is leaking past the shaft seal, it can also wash away the grease in the bearing.
